Well, how did your holidays go? Are you one of those who come home with a whole list of good things you want to do?
"This time I will read Wuthering Heights in English"
"I will listen to English programs while I exercise at the gym..."
Ok, I know what you are thinking. "Another funny guy that thinks I won't make it, thanks for nothing"
But hey, hold on. I actually think you could make it; if you really wanted to.
Welcome to EL CLUB DE LOS BUENOS PROPOSITOS.
Did you give some thought to things you want to accomplish this year? Well, here are my suggestions / tips:
1- Share them. You've got to talk about your goals and plans. They become a bit more real and doable when you talk about them with someone else.
2- Don't listen to discouraging comments. I know, you talk about your goal and someone says: "yeah, like the last time you said you would do this or that..." If you pay attention to those comments you will very likely fail, and it will be your fault entirely.
3- Write your plan. Yes, write a breakdown of the different steps you will have to take to achieve what you want, and put a date to each step. The plan may change, evolve, but if you have it, it will get you where you want.
4- Try to talk to people who are already doing what you want to do. Ask for tips, ideas, guidance and advice.
5- Cultivate a can-do attitude. Force yourself to think positively and you will create positive thought patterns. It will become more natural as you keep on doing it.
6- Have a good old moan every now and again. We all need it from time to time. But be careful who you moan to, they may not understand that you are releasing tension and thinking you are giving up they may try to discourage you. You would confuse them!

7- Stop, think and review. How have you done today? Have you followed your plan? Are you closer to your goals? Then, after honest consideration be determined to renew your resolution to carry on.
